The Rimote apps do not collect, store, or share any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no servers. Everything the apps do happens on your own devices and your local Wi-Fi network.
What the apps collect
Nothing. The iPhone app and the Mac agent have no backend and contain no third-party SDKs or tracking of any kind. We never receive your data because there is nowhere for it to go.
This website
rimote.app (the website, not the apps) uses Vercel Analytics to count page views in aggregate: no cookies, no cross-site tracking, and nothing tied to you personally. The apps never talk to this website or to any other server.
How Rimote works
The iPhone app sends remote-control commands (sleep, lock, volume, media, and navigation keys) directly to the companion app on your Mac over your local network. No command, identifier, or piece of usage data is ever sent to us or to any third party, and nothing leaves your network.
Pairing & security
Pairing uses a one-time 4-digit code shown on your Mac to establish a private key. That key is stored only on your devices, in the iOS Keychain and on your Mac, and is used to authenticate each command. It is never transmitted off your devices.
Tracking
Rimote does not track you across apps or websites and presents no App Tracking Transparency prompt, because it performs no tracking.
Your rights
Because we collect no data, there is nothing for us to access, correct, or delete. To remove the app entirely, delete it from your iPhone and drag the Mac agent from Applications to the Trash.
